In addition to managed therapy rooms on the Wirral and Liverpool I also work from a beautiful loft room in my Edwardian house in New Brighton.

When I first viewed the house I was captivated by the courtyard at the rear, and the history of the house, however having viewed it several times online I was really keen to see the loft.  I wasn't disappointed, from the moment I stepped into this beautiful space it was love.  I walked around the room and stared at the views of the Lighthouse.  I didn't want to leave, I knew I could put my stamp on this house. I love interior design and resorting properties has long been a passion of mine.

It is safe to say I bought the house for the loft!

I knew it would inspire me to write and relax, clients always comment on what a beautiful space it is for therapy.

We all have lofty ideas and ambitions throughout our life, I love to work with people on helping them find their highest and truest self.... from my loft come the lessons.  I hope you find interesting ideas here to inspire you.

Dream Big

Dreaming BIG, but STUCK?

From time to time we all like to dream, of better things, job, relationship, home, finances, family. It is in our nature to dream and we seem to have an inbuilt capacity for growth. A way of being that helps us to grow and be in a constant state of being. Nothing is fixed, and although we have basic needs for security, we also need a balance of risk and adventure.
Often, we will have a big dream, one that stalks our sleeping, a dream that is so big that unbidden we hear ourselves gabbling on about it to others. A dream that won’t let us be, its nagging voice, will admonish us to step out and take the dream idea forward.

Yet we don’t. We talk ourselves out of it, knowing that the conversation we are having with ourselves will not suffice. The dream like a hungry lion will be back, circling us, ready to pounce. In simple terms, it isn’t done with us yet. And we know it.
So, what do we say to talk ourselves out of stepping forward into our dreams? It usually boils down to three simple excuses: time, money and know how.

And whatever we do, we simply cannot shift the belief that one, or all three of these things stand in the way of that BIG juicy dream.

So how do we shift our limiting beliefs around the big 3: time, money, know how?

Let us start that journey with a question. Why? When we understand our why, and it is a big enough 'why?' We can begin to figure out the ‘how’.

Let me know what your ‘why?’ is and in part 2 of this series I will begin to unpack how to shift our limiting beliefs about time, money and know how.

Part 2 From stuck to flow - Time

Now you have figured out ‘why’ you need to follow this dream through, and when your why is big, we can move forward to the ‘how’.

Time is our most precious resource, Jim Rohn puts it this way ‘time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it, kill it and spend it rather than invest it.

Nailing down how you waste, kill or spend time is fairly straightforward. You do a time audit. This consists of using the screen time function on your phone and putting down on paper exactly how you allocate the rest of the time. It sounds so simple doesn’t it? Yet so many people fail.

Why is that? Simple, they lie to themselves. Social media doesn’t really include, YouTube… yes it does. LinkedIn isn’t social media its business, well yes and no, its business if you are working it, it is social media if you are scrolling it.

Online shopping is essential, well again yes if that is how you shop, and you go online with a list and a clear plan of what you want to buy. Otherwise it is the equivalent of aimlessly wandering around the shops!

Can you see how we lie to ourselves? When it comes to this exercise, I work with my client to get absolutely crystal clear on the little lies we tell ourselves. Once we have completed the time audit together, I work with the client on a genius 90-day plan to ensure that the limiting beliefs and the behaviours that have supported them for so many years are blasted away.

Part 3 From stuck to flow – money

Aaaah money. I love to work with money limiting beliefs. Money and the scarcity create fear, when we live in fear we are as far removed from being in flow than we could ever be.

Fear, I am fond of telling my clients is F = false E = evidence A = appearing R = real.

Money is a form of energy, think of it like this, you go out with your family for dinner, you tip the waiter, they waiter has a great evening for tips and decides to spend the weekly tips on a trip into town and buy some new shoes.
The shoe shop owner has a great week and decides to book a holiday, the holiday is a weekend away at an Airbnb just over 100 miles away. They buy petrol, and food and pay for the accommodation. Your tip sets off a chain of energy.
Do you see how this works? Money has no value of its own, you can’t eat it, and if you were stranded on a desert island it would be useless.

Money only has the value of where you put it. Where are you putting your money?

A bit like working with the time audit, I encourage my clients to do a money audit, this is a twofold exercise, firstly, if you have a banking app then get to know all of its functions. The average spend calculator, the ‘where’ you spend graphs can really help. And – don’t forget to lie :-) !

The second part of the money audit works on a deeper level. What beliefs do you hold about money? Where did these beliefs come from? And how do they hold you in place now with your relationship to money?

My money audit session always brings up some really interesting and long held beliefs for my clients. This work can be transformational, and through this work we can begin a whole new relationship with money.

Part 4 From stuck to flow – Knowledge

Knowledge is power. Of all the big three stumbling blocks knowledge is perhaps the easiest one to blast through. Why do I believe this? It’s simple, we have been gathering and using knowledge from the minute we entered the world. So, there is no reason why knowledge should hold us back.

But you say, ‘I need lots of knowledge to XYZ’. My reply is always the same, ‘let’s start with the next smallest step’.
So, you want to own and run a coffee shop, you dream of this little coffee shop, you decide on a location, your dream the interior, the menu and the seating plan. In your big juicy dream, you see yourself making conversation with regulars, you imagine the smell of coffee, and you visualize the cake display. It’s all looking great. There is only one problem. You have never worked in a coffee shop, you have no idea how to make coffee on a business scale, and you have never ever worked for yourself.

There are a lot of steps between the dream and the reality. But for now, let’s start with the next smallest step. You get to choose; do you want a practical step or virtual plan step? I help my clients with the virtual planning, taking forward the seed of an idea into a virtual plan is exciting, sometimes scary, but always fun. If you are not just a little bit scared, then I would say the dream isn’t quite big enough – so go bigger.

Either way, whichever step you decide to take you will begin to build up your knowledge base. Once we have tracked the know how you will need, you get to choose how you build up your knowledge bank.

Knowledge is power -but first you have to build it. Brick by brick, that knowledge base will become your foundation for realising that big juicy dream.

Now you have all three approaches for working through to realising your dream. When do you want to start?
