About Christina
I am a qualified psychotherapist, coach and hypnotherapist, I have over 8 years’ experience of coaching adults and facilitating group work. I believe that everyone needs three things to thrive and I hold them to be true..as humans we all need, to be seen, heard and loved/valued. In therapy we are seen and heard, the work itself is way of validating your experience and allows you be valued.
I am passionate about personal development and I have a love of working with people and a very curious mind!
I believe the quality of our life is led in direct relation to the dept of our self inquiry and the quality of questions we ask ourselves.
Why do I eat when I am not hungry? Why do I sometimes feel sad when I am in a happy place? What shall I do with my life? Why is it all so hard at times?
Self inquiry and the ability to sit with difficult emotions are at the heart of working collaboratively with a therapist. I am ultimately your witness, and I truly believe that this work is a gift and a blessing in my life. It is my privilege to be your witness as you ask the difficult questions and together, we go about finding answers. Answers that will ultimately open new doors, for a deeper understanding of the joy and abundance of life.
We ask ourselves these questions thinking we don't know the answers, it is my belief that unconsciously we all know ourselves at a deep and fundamental level. This belief is linked to my work in finding the authentic self, that truest highest version of ourselves.
To live an authentic life and to help others to do the same is my greatest joy. In order to do this, it can take fearless self inquiry and a willingess to work with both the conscious and unconscious mind. This is central to psychotherapy. The mind has two zones, the conscious mind that takes us through the day, our exectutive in charge of the here and now, and our unconscious mind.
The unconscious mind has stored everything, every little traumatic episode, humiliation, disappointment all the hurts and joys of life are stored, as if they happened only yesterday, the effect is that it can sometimes impact on our current behaviour in ways that are baffling and scary. Our unconscious self may still be trying to win a mother's love, a part of us may still be trying to avoid the school bullies, crippling us now with social anxiety. The trauma of growing up in a violent family may make us distrustful of others causing us to shut down and retreat, putting up barriers to keep safe, while ultimately keeping us separate.
The key aims of therapy are to connect us with our authentic self, the self that knows we are loved regardless of our mother's rejection. The part of us that is confident and happy, and accepts that sadly the bullies were probably fuelled by deep anger, sadness and self loathing. Therapy aims to help us rediscover our lost emotions and connect them with our highest self that we may lovingly accept who we are now in order to live fully in the here and now.
My therapy practice is tied closely wth my spirituality, my love of life and nature. Once we have connected on the inside with our authentic self it is easy to begin to see the beauty and interconnectedness of life on earth and the grandeur and spectacle that is the universe.
I am grounded in my daily spiritual practices and my love of art, music and books ensures that my curious mind is forever expanding.
I am a work in progress.... my aim for myself is progress not perfection.... all we are is change.
Namaste Christina.
